CYPF North East - FASD
Tue, April 25, 2017, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM BST
Foetal alcohol Spectrum disorder is becoming more commonly recognised and diagnosed nationally and internationally. A recent survey of parents and carers of children with FASD in the North East identified that Occupational Therapists were the most valued professionals in managing the behaviours displayed by the children affected by exposure to pre-birth alcohol. The children frequently have sensory perceptual difficulties, sleep disorders and problems with motor co-ordination.
Dr Helen Palmer, Consultant Paediatrician, has developed some expertise in the recognition and diagnosis of FASD and would welcome this opportunity to share her knowledge, network with and discuss the implications for regional OT’s.
This is an excellent opportunity to discuss the implications of FASD on our caseloads and share the strategies, experiences and challenges we face when working with this condition.
