Event description

Description

To defend your “cyber world” from attacks at both the personal and business levels, you need to learn what is required to build a complete cybersecurity program. If your business is working with the Department of Defense, you will need to be compliant with the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) 800-171 regulations for cybersecurity, effective January 1, 2018. This workshop is designed to help you and your business build the trust required to compete for and win government contracts while maintaining secure systems that protect your business information systems in their interaction with government systems.

In this workshop you will gain an understanding of cybersecurity so you can assess your business’s current information security risk and lay the groundwork for you to remediate and improve its security profile to comply with government requirements under NIST 800-171 and NIST 800-53 under the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF).

Topics addressed will include:

  • Overview of frameworks
  • Focus on NIST (800-171, CSF)
  • Building your cybersecurity team
  • Developing an inventory
  • Building the compliance plan
  • Outlining the security plan
  • Understanding the requirements
  • Strategies to be compliant on a budget
