UMass Lowell, a leader in information technology and criminal justice education, is pleased to host a Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop for small and midsize businesses, which are among the most susceptible when it comes to targeted cyberattacks.
Aimed at enabling business leaders to understand the impact of cyber vulnerabilities, this workshop will address such topics as cyber safety, malware, exploitation, communications security and compliance.

UMass Lowell — Designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security
- Cybersecurity expert Larry Wilson will provide an overview of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and how it guides organizations in protecting and defending their assets
Advoqt — A leading technology group with expertise in data science and cybersecurity
- Technology entrepreneur Reinier Moquette from Advoqt will guide workshop attendees through strategies aimed at recognizing and mitigating cyber risk.
Sheehan, Schiavoni, Jutras and Magliocchetti, LLP (SSJM) Attorneys at Law — Specialists in cybersecurity legal compliance and consulting
- Retired FBI Special Agent Bill Chase from SSJM will provide an overview of federal and state statutes on cybersecurity compliance, and will also detail penalties for noncompliance.
Workshop attendees will gain the knowledge they need to initiate an effective cybersecurity plan and obtain workforce training that will secure their businesses. The workshop will be followed by a networking reception.
