Event description

Description

The hospitality industry has experienced many cyber security concerns and its fair share of cyberattacks. Last year, international hotel group Marriott International said the privacy of about 500 million guests may have been compromised in a cyberattack - the biggest in the last five years.

Building on the success of previous events over the past seven years, Hotel ICON, a thought leader in hospitality innovation once again presents an ideal platform - Cyber Security Risk Management Workshop for the Hotel Industry - for hoteliers and information security professionals with strategic insights on cyber security threats and how they can mitigate cyber-related risks for the hotel industry.

Marriott is just the latest in a long and growing list of companies to announce that personal data they had collected on their customers has been stolen. Last year, Cathay Pacific and Facebook also announced data breaches affecting their customers. These cases have established a need for the discussion and development of comprehensive information security programmes, annual security audit cycles and post-incident investigations in the hotel sector. These along with the following topics will be addressed in the upcoming Cyber Security Risk Management Workshop for the Hotel Industry:

  • When evolving their security platforms, business leaders in hospitality need to consider; which threats would target the data of their guests?
  • Have we got the correct tools in place to ensure we can detect, prevent and respond to attacks before they become a serious issue?
