Join us live via Zoom as Professor of IT Computer Networking and Cyber Security at SUNY Adirondack, Karen Woodard, discusses the multiple concerns around cyber security as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conversation will be moderated by Karen Woodard. Karen has more than 25 years of IT and telecom support and management experience coupled with nearly 20 years with the college. Karen’s leadership has led to enhancements in our IT programs including creation of an IT – Computer Networking A.A.S. degree and new Cyber Security A.A.S. degree tied to Cisco and security industry certifications. Karen is a Cisco Networking Academy global instructor trainer and is passionate about fostering student learning through industry connections. She was a mentor and led student Cisco Networking Academy IT Dream Teams for the NBA 2017 and 2015 All Star Games and Cisco Live 2012 and 2013 events. Karen seeks to evaluate student talent and knowledge to bridge with industry IT culture and needs to help students gain real world experience that results in job prospects.
Chris Meyer is an attorney and partner at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna. Chris leads the firm’s Privacy, Cyber security and Information Management practice, helping clients protect critical business and consumer information. He also represents clients in commercial litigation, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance matters. He represents clients in the financial services, health care, education, information technology, digital marketing, website development, mobile application, benefits management, insurance and manufacturing industries. Chris also volunteers as the Chair of the Albany KnowledgeNet Chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and Vice Chair of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Emergency Corps.
Anju Owad, Senior Risk Consultant with Amsure. Anju joined Amsure from Allied World Assurance Company where she served as an Assistant Vice President responsible for managing and expanding Allied World’s footprint within the Northeast Region for Technology and Cyber Risks. Over the past 17 years, Anju has worked in a variety of Cyber and Professional Insurance capacities at AIG, Ironshore, and CNA. Her underwriting expertise provides distinctive insurance solutions for small start-ups to Fortune 500 risks. Anju holds a B.A. from Skidmore College.
Mark Shaw, President of StoredTech. Mark Shaw started Stored Technology Solutions in 2010 and has since expanded to four offices from Raleigh, NC to Plattsburgh with headquarters in Queeensbury, NY. His revenue has grown 60% in the last few years with clients ranging from law firms, medical practices, manufacturers and accountants. As a managed service provider. StoredTech supports computer networks, installs security cameras, internet and phone service, and setting up firewalls for customers as far away as Tokyo, Canada and Idaho. StoredTech’s newest partnership is with OrbitalFire, launched June 1st with CEO and founding partner, Reg Harnish. As highlighted in the Albany Business Review June 2, “OrbitalFire provides cybersecurity services, including regulatory compliance, risk management, assessment, training, security monitoring and more. Though the firm is focused on smaller businesses, it can provide some services, such as HIPAA compliance, to larger companies.”
