Event description

Description

Seaquest Southwest is a citizen science marine recording project run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Marine Team and in collaboration with Devon Wildlife Trust. It is one of the Team’s fantastic marine projects aimed at conserving and protecting marine wildlife and wild places for future generations.

Join us for a day course on how to conduct effort based surveys and to improve marine wildlife ID skills for different species of dolphin, porpoise and whales.

No experience necessary and all are very welcome!

The morning session will include classroom based talks about the project, marine mammal identification and survey technique, followed by a practical session of sea watching to practice your new skills at St Agnes Head. We will be heading over to the watch point for lunch time so bring a picnic.

Bring paper and pens, practical clothing and footwear for outdoor work on cliffs, packed lunch and drink for outdoor work (tea and coffee/biscuits supplied in classroom session), binoculars (although some can be provided on the day)

Cost is £10

PLEASE NOTE: This course is free to active members of Cornwall Local Marine Group's (LMG) - evidence will be required on the day of the course in the form of an email from the group committee stating the partiicpants role in their LMG and a refund in cash will be generated on the day of the course.
