CVC Japan: Ingredients of Successful Innovation Spaces

The Japan Chapter of Columbia Venture Community (CVC) is pleased to invite you to a virtual session with Benika Morokuma, a senior consultant at Nikken Sekkei Research Institute (NSRI). Her voluntary team at Nikken Sekkei Group has been studying innovation spaces globally and recently published articles about “Ingredients of Successful Innovation Spaces”. She will share with us their findings and insights arising from the recent project.

In this virtual session, we will touch on the following topics:

• Benika’s professional experience and context of the project on successful innovation spaces.
• Findings and insights on “Ingredients of Successful Innovation Spaces”
• Case studies in Japan and abroad (e.g. Okinawa (Japan), Eindhoven (Netherlands), New York City (USA))

The tentative agenda is as follows:

• Introduction to CVC Japan by Ayumi Ode (CVC Japan Co-Lead)
• Presentation by the Featured Speaker
• Q&A and Discussions facilitated by Takayuki Nakagawa (CVC Japan Sub-Lead)

コロンビアベンチャーコミュニティ・ジャパンチャプター（CVC Japan）では、日建設計総合研究所 主任研究員である諸隈紅花氏をお招きしてオンラインセッションを開催します。諸隈氏は日建設計グループ内の有志メンバーと世界中のイノベーションと都市空間に関して研究を進めており、最近イノベーションと都市空間に関する記事を公開しました。本プロジェクトで得られた知見や洞察等について主にお話をお伺いします。

本オンラインセッションでは、主に以下について触れます。

• 諸隈氏の今までのご経験やイノベーションと都市空間に関するプロジェクトの背景
• プロジェクトから得た成功するイノベーションと都市空間の要素に関するインサイト

Featured Speaker

Benika Morokuma | Senior Consultant, PhD at Nikken Sekkei Research Institute (NSRI)

Benika Morokuma is a Senior Consultant at Nikken Sekkei Research Institute (NSRI), which is an urban planning consulting company and subsidiary of Nikken Sekkei. Her expertise at NSRI includes historic preservation in urban areas and public and private partnership to revitalize the public assets. With the voluntary members at Nikken Sekkei Group, she started the research on the successful innovation spaces three years ago as a new research field. She holds an MS in Historic Preservation from Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, where she attended as Fulbright Scholar. In her earlier career, she also worked at the Municipal Art Society in New York City and Nikken Sekkei.

諸隈 紅花（もろくま べにか）| 日建設計総合研究所 主任研究員

フルブライト奨学生として米国コロンビア大学建築大学院で歴史的環境保全の修士号を取得後、NY市の都市に関するシンクタンクのMunicipal Art Societyや日建設計の都市開発部門を経て、日建設計総合研究所に勤務。専門である歴史的環境を生かしたまちづくりや公共施設の再生における官民連携事業化支援だが、3年前から日建設計グループ内の有志メンバーとイノベーションと都市空間に関する研究を開始。
