CVC Japan: Basics of Startup IPO Process

The Japan Chapter of Columbia Venture Community (CVC) is pleased to invite you to a virtual session with Hiroaki Yamazaki, a student at Columbia Business School (Class of 2024) and formerly Vice President, IPO Division in Investment Banking Business Unit at Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities. He had been engaged in IPO consulting for startups in Japan for the last 4.5 years until he enrolled at Columbia Business School. Based on his previous work experience, he will share with us the basics and critical steps of the IPO process for startups in Japan.

Topics to be covered:

• Basic process of startup IPOs in Japan and key players involved in the process
• Key points of each step of the process, with reference to "Guidance on Financing for Startup Growth” (only in Japanese) by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
• IPO pricing process and its current structure.

Hiroaki Yamazaki | Columbia Business School (Class of 2024)

Hiroaki Yamazaki joined Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities in 2016. He worked as a Capital Market Group (Investment Banking Business Unit) member. Until he enrolled at Columbia Business School, he had been engaged in IPO consulting for startups in Japan for the last 4.5 years. He had been supported in various IPO Projects, from startups to large corporations, and provided comprehensive advice for listing preparations on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

山崎 紘彰（やまざき ひろあき）| コロンビア・ビジネス・スクール（Class of 2024）

2016年、三菱UFJモルガン・スタンレー証券 投資銀行本部に入社。退職までの6年半、一貫してキャピタル・マーケット業務に携わる。直近4年半は、公開引受部（IPO Division）にて、未上場企業を対象とした上場コンサルティング業務に従事。スタートアップから大企業に至るまで様々な企業のプロジェクトに関与し、東京証券取引所に上場するための包括的な上場準備のサポートを行う。
