Grant began his journalistic career at the Belfast Telegraph newspaper as a sports writer and sub editor, before being promoted to senior sub editor and then acting chief sub editor of the paper's first Compact edition.

He then moved to London where he worked as a senior production journalist at The Independent newspaper, and then as Production Editor of Red Bull's global Red Bulletin magazine - a publication with a circulation of more than three million.

Grant migrated to South Australia in 2011, where he worked as a marketing advisor and then senior communications advisor at the South Australian Government's Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, before moving to Flinders University in January 2014, where he spent almost four years as a media advisor and university journalist.

He has worked as a freelance journalist for media outlets including the Times of London, the Metro Newspaper (UK), BBC World News, Smooth FM Radio in London, Solstice Media, and as a B2B writer for Australia's number 1 jobs website, SEEK.
