Following the critically-acclaimed 2021 release The Consort, on April 8th Curt Sydnor will releaseHeaven is Begun on Passerine Records. Recorded with his Richmond band of Laura Ann Singh (v),Scott Clark (d), and Adam Hopkins (b), HIB is bolstered by the powerful arrangements of Ryan Seaton(Lingua Ignota) and guitar work from Alan Good Parker, Gary Kalar, and Aaron Dugan.

Unlike anything in Sydnor’s catalogue to date, HIB is an unconventional foray into the borderlandsthat separate gospel & secular songcraft. The lyrics speak to doubt, death and unknowability. Themusical arrangements feature masterful vocalist Laura Ann Singh backed by an avant-jazz rhythmsection operating fearlessly within Sydnor's traditional-experimental songs structures. Proudlygrandiose in its attempts to meld the mundane with the weird, "Heaven is Begun" slips musical,lyrical, and metaphorical subversion into familiar source material.
