Event Details

Current Musicology, a leading journal for scholarly research on music, is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary with an open-themed music scholarship conference. The conference will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 28–29, 2015 in Rooms 522–523, Butler Library, Columbia University, and is free and open to the public.

Dr. Georgina Born, Professor of Music and Anthropology at the University of Oxford, will give the keynote address. A roundtable discussion titled "The Future of Music Studies" will feature speakers Professors Kofi Agawu, Lydia Goehr, Lawrence Kramer, George Lewis, and Ingrid Monson. Over the two days, the event will include paper presentations on a wide range of topics, from graduate students, early career scholars, and senior scholars from across Canada, Europe, and the United States. We are very pleased to welcome back founding editor Austin Clarkson, as well as former editors Professors Anthony Barone, Eleonora Beck, Murray Dineen, Peter Lefferts, Jay Rahn, and Karen Painter, who will all give paper presentations.
