HIRE A LANE (40 minutes including an introduction to curling)
Groups of 4 (£12.50 per person)
Groups of 8 (£10 per person)
Curling, bowling’s wonderfully weird winter cousin, is heading to East London. From the people behind Rooftop Film Club - Sliders, London’s very first rooftop curling club, will launch on the 3rd November. Featuring four neon lit, freshly marked curling lanes, alongside an ice-cool line-up of DJs, themed cocktails, street food and karaoke cabins powered by Lucky Voice.
Guests can get cosy in the bespoke built Curling Lane Lodge, sipping back hot toddies and enjoying the warmth of flame heaters, before boldly stepping onto the ice for their next throw. Budding sliders needn’t venture too far from the icy action either, as groups of four or more can pre-ordered drinks served direct to their lane.
Kings of karaoke, Lucky Voice, will be hosting temptingly toasty rooftop Karaoke Cabins, entitled The Heartbreak Hotel and The Love Shack. With room for up to 10 people to harmonise, The Heartbreak Hotel boasts a shrine to Jailhouse rocker, Elvis, complete with rhinestone props and the ‘Love Shack’, a disco devotee’s paradise, harks back to Studio 54 days with funky disco balls. From only £10 per person (£100 for the hour) it includes hire, drinks service and a welcome drink to warm-up this vocal cords.
Rooftop street food favourites, Rockadollar Dogs, serve-up succulent meaty platters and festive frankfurters including the German Krakauer Sausage soaked with Cider, melt-in-the-mouth pulled pork and melted Raclette cheese with sweet caramelised onions in a toasted bun. Peruvian Barbeque specialists, Cachina, will be treating punters to a traditional hog roast with a Latino twist alongside crunchy roast potatoes and cider gravy.
Not crazy about curling? We’ve got you. Entry is free to the Winter Bar – Roof East’s undercover and heated bar, with space for 200 merry makers and 360 degree views of East London.
