Event description

Description

Before Rosa Parks, before Martin Luther King, Jr., and before Nelson Mandela, there was Paul Robeson – an all-American athlete, scholar, international recording artist, and star of the stage and screen. For the first half of the 20th Century, Robeson was the most famous African-American entertainer and political activist in the world, and his life was a courageous example of integrity and discipline in the service of peace and justice. Join us for acclaimed baritone Anthony Brown’s rousing tribute to this great American hero when he performs “I Go On Singing,” a one-hour family concert which brings history alive through music and stories. Drawing on Robeson's original arrangements from the spirituals to Broadway, enjoy such classics as “Wade in the Water,” "Ol’ Man River,” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So.” Curiosity Concerts is directing all donations for this concert to the Ferguson Library.
