H. Daniel Peck, John Guy Vassar, Jr. Professor Emeritus of English at Vassar College discusses the Thomas Cole Site 2019 Exhibition Thomas Cole’s Refrain: The Paintings of Catskill Creek, on view in the New Studio May 4 to November 3. The exhibion will illuminate masterpieces from major museums and private collections, and explore the deeper meanings of Cole’s Catskill Creek paintings, considered as an integral series for the first time. The exhibition is based on new scholarship developed by Professor Peck in his book of the same title, published by Three Hills (an imprint of Cornell University Press).

The lecture will take place at 2pm at the Lumberyard Creekside Studio, located at 62 Water Street, Catskill, NY 12414. Lumberyard is located in the heart of the village, less than a mile from the Thomas Cole National Historic Site.
