Rhiannon Paget, the curator of Asian Art at the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, will discuss the exhibit the Fabric of India scheduled to open at the Museum July, 2019. This is part of our Passage to India series. Click here to see all the events.

Rhiannon received her doctorate from the University of Sydney, Australia, with a dissertation examining the relationship between neo-traditional Japanese-style painting (nihonga) and state policy during imperial and wartime Japan. Her exhibition Woodblock Prints from Postwar Japan is currently on view in the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Center for Asian Art at the Ringling.

In July 2019, the Ringling will open The Fabric of India, an exhibition organized by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Comprising over 160 costumes, furnishings, religious objects, and raw material samples, this is the first comprehensive exhibition to explore the dynamic and multifaceted world of handmade textiles created in India between the 3rd and 21st centuries.
