Description

This 3-part workshop lends insight, practical instruction, and inspiration for educators who produce Student Art Exhibitions. Interact with experienced museum curators and educators about curating, designing and installing exhibitions, curating contemporary art exhibitions for school-aged audiences, and engaging students in all parts of these processes. Explore practical applications for the National Visual Art Standards for Presenting, Responding and Connecting to artwork, as well as gain new ideas for satisfying the Statewide Career Readiness Measures.

Part 1) a panel discussion with Director of Exhibitions Lauren Nye, Director of the VanGO! Museum on Wheels Ross Tyger and Director of Education Tina Sell.

Part 2) an in-depth tour of an in-progress installation, including an interactive demonstration of best practices for preparing and installing artwork.

Part 3) a round-table discussion where workshop participants bring samples of student work, explore and share practical applications for curating, preparing, installing and interpreting student exhibitions.

Free parking and continental breakfast included. The museum is located in Midtown Harrisburg in walking distance to sights and restaurants for post-workshop exploring. Participants will receive 3 hours of Act 48 credit.
