Celebrating The Food of Navidad and Kwanzaa

Join Omaha Performing Arts and No More Empty Pots for a virtual cook along to learn about the holiday traditions of Navidad and Kwanzaa. This pre-recorded livestream will be led by No More Empty Pots staff, Dana Christensen, Meya Hill, and CEO/co-founder, Nancy Williams, University of Nebraska Omaha professor, Gabriel Gutierrez and moderator Jade Rogers, founder and chief innovation officer of The House of Afros, Capes & Curls. It will air on O-pa's Facebook and Youtube channels on Dec. 15.

About the Voices AMPLIFIED! Series: this multidisciplinary arts and social justice series amplifies artists in diverse cultures. In the 21/22 season we're amplifying Black and Latinx voices by partnering with local and national touring artists to offer free community events every month through June 2022.

Order Curated Meal Kits | FREE

Cook alongside the "Celebrating The Food of Navidad and Kwanzaa" panel in your own homes by reserving a curated meal kit from No More Empty Pots. Each meal kit will include the ingredients and cooking instructions for 2 vegetarian servings of Pozole, Hoppin' John, Cornbread and Roasted Delicate Squash featured in the virtual cook along on December 15. (See complete order instructions below.)

Curated Kit Instructions:

  • Each kit contains printed instructions/recipes and ingredients for TWO meal servings. Order the number of kits based on the number of individuals you plan to cook for. (i.e. Order 2 kits to serve 4 individuals).
  • Kits are available to the first 50 registrants. In order to prepare orders in time for the live video premiere, the deadline to register is Friday, December 3, at Noon.
  • Meal ingredients are vegetarian.
  • Kit assembly can accommodate most food allergies or dietary restrictions.
  • Kits are available for either PICK-UP or DELIVERY in Greater Omaha.

Pick Up: Available Friday, December 10, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. or Saturday, December 11, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the No More Empty Pots Food Hub (8511 N. 30th St, Omaha NE 68112).

Delivery: Available Saturday, December 11, in the Greater Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area.
