Event description

Description

Limpias (Spiritual Cleanses) have been used in Mexico for hundreds if not thousands of years. Limpias vary in use, purpose, and state of the person and what is available to the Curandero or Curandera (indigenous/traditonal healer). The gift lies on the power of the Curandero and Curandera to use his or her creativity with what mother nature produces for us and honoring the support Mother nature gives us. A limpia is a practice in which the Curandero or Curandera brings the multidimensional aspects of us back into harmony. Our thoughts, our pains, or emotions, and worries are looked at to find the unresolved trauma that has not been fully integrated within the individual. The use of plants, candles, Copal smoke, Mezcal, musical instruments, and prayer are part of the Limpia sessions. A limpia is a non-invasive approach where the person is talked to with sincerity but in a nonjudgmental way and treated with deep love and compassion to bring in healing. The sessions are also accompanied by what might look like “synchronicities” from nature. They are truly magical should you decide to arrive fully into the healing process.

This June, we have a rare opportunity to have one of the most gifted Master Curanderos of Oaxaca, Maestro Laurencio Lopez. He has taught Curan- derismo during the Summer program at UNM in Albuquer- que, NM for the past 16 years. He is also a master ethno-bot- anist who has given aid and education to the Zapotec communities in Oaxaca also by bringing them knowledge in permaculture, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. He is known for his Oaxacan Limpias, his powerful Zapo- tec ceremonies and rituals. His wisdom is vast and he is generous in sharing the knowledge that was passed on to him by his ancestors. He enjoys teaching curanderismo, healing with herbs, and permaculture.

Maestro Laurencio will be coming to Sacramento CA to give a workshop to learn about the benefits and principles of limpias.
We will do hands-on practice with each other, using different tools to perform limpias. Sacramento has been through some rough experiences and Maestro Laurencio will helps us re-center in our personal power by talking about how to heal from destructive emotions like anger, grief, and specially fear.

Sliding Scale: $50-$80

***This workshop is in Spanish and will be translated to English by Margarita Camarena CMT RMT***

We are complex beings living in a complex world during a time of extremes. Our emotions have become complex, mixed, and blended into a fog and funk. Some people walk through life living like this making this their new normal. But you don’t have to live with these heavy emotions anymore. Truth is, we don’t know what we carry until we don’t. Maestro Laurencio will come to talk to us not just about Limpias but also about emotions, primarily about anger, grief and fear, but perhaps those other emotions that come out during class. So please don’t hold back and come get information for yourself, your relations, and your community. We will give you information to create your “Limpia Kit” for you to go home and be able to do a Limpia on yourself whenever you need it.

After the workshop, Maestro Laurencio will also be offering his traditional Oaxacan limpia session. This is a beautiful healing as well as an incredible and inspirational experience. This limpia is sure to help the different aspects of you to come into harmony. The limpias are not included in the price of the workshop and they will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are interested in getting a limpia but are unable to come to the workshop, please feel free to contact Sol Collective at sol@solcollective.org.
