State-of-the-art Backup for Data Centers and Critical Facilities

Join us for a presentation on the technology that keeps us connected, healthy and entertained. Whether for financial transactions, uptime requirements of data centers, life-saving procedures in healthcare or to keep the stadium lights on at the big game uninterrupted power has become an absolute requirement in our lives.
Generators, transfer switches and paralleling gear are the backbone of this power chain. This discussion will cover the state-of-the-art for backup generators at data centers and other critical facilities. These marvels are rated up to 3.5 MW. The topics covered will include the recent improvements in backup power system architectures, generator controls, and generator set reliability enhancements. Also covered will be requirements for enhanced reliability including Uptime Tier 3 & 4, NEC 708, and their implications. In addition national and local requirements for lower emissions, how this can effect installations in the form of exhaust after treatment will be covered.

Paul has successfully delivered emergency backup solutions to a wide range of facilities including Data Centers, Hospitals/Medical Centers, Water & Wastewater Plants, College Campuses, and critical Military installations. He has been helping consultants apply on site power generation to facilities for over 30 years. Paul has a BSME from the University of Minnesota and is a registered P.E. in California.
