During this session, we will learn about various agricultural-based businesses, initiatives and innovative programs that help to increase our community’s access to healthy, nutritional food with specific focus on locally grown produce and locally sourced products.
As part of this session, we will hear from a panel of farmers and food policy advocates to learn more about their businesses, missions and services that help to support a local, thriving food system. Panelists will explain how their innovative strategies and business practices help to ensure that individuals of all socioeconomic backgrounds have access to local, healthy food.
Program Panelists:
- Kenze Burkhart, Farmers on the Square – Indoor/Outdoor Producer Only Farmers Market featuring Fresh Match Nutrition Assistance Program
- Heidi Witmer, Leadership Education And Farming (LEAF) – Youth Leadership Development & Agricultural Program
- Eric Saunders, New Hope Ministries – Mobile Food Pantry will be featured on site.
- Beth Breon, Oakgrove Farms – Local family-owned farm with year-round Farm Store and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.
- Meta Barbour, York Fresh Food Farms – Mobile Produce Truck will be featured on site.
