FREE WORKSHOP
As Part of Culture Days 2019

VISUAL ARTS | Make & Take
Four, 60 minute reserved sessions:
4 to 5 pm | 5:15 to 6:15 pm | 6:30 to 7:30 pm | and 7:45 to 8:45 pm

EXPLORE ENCAUSTIC PAINTING & COLLAGE WORKSHOP
Artist: Sandy Middleton

Sandy Middleton will demonstrate and guide you through tips & tricks for successful encaustic exploration. Using hot wax medium participants will learn to layer, fuse, collage and transfer images into a unique piece of art, yours to keep!

Spend 1 hour learning & creating (stay for the duration)
Participants MUST be ages 15+ due to safety concerns.
All participants must sign waiver available at venue (under 18 must have parent signature).

ARTIST BIO:

Sandy Middleton has worked as both an artist and photographer for over 25 years, having graduated from Ryerson University with a BAA in still photography. She was nominated for a 2016 St. Catharines Arts Award in the category of Established Artist and has received several arts grants from the Ontario Arts Council. Currently her practice has been focused on images that deal with identity, memory and found and natural materials. She works in analogue and digital photography as well as encaustic medium and wood transfer prints.

Sandy has several ongoing projects most notably, The St.Catharines Legacy Project | Community Portraits, is a project intending to take, document and catalogue portraits of thousands of St.Catharines residents to archive and record as a piece of St.Catharines history, this began in 2013 and is intended to continue throughout the life of the artist.
