Culturally & Historically Responsive Education Summer Institute at Georgia State University for middle school DeKalb County Teachers

About this Event

Middle school teachers in DeKalb County Schools, please join us for a free Culturally & Historically Responsive Literacy 2-Day Summer Institute at Georgia State University on May 30 & 31, 2019. The sessions will be led by Dr. Gholdy Muhammad and will be highly engaging and interactive. Space is limited and is open to the first 75 teachers who register via Eventbrite. Teachers must plan to attend both dates.

Participants will:

  • Receive $125 per day
  • Learn culturally responsive education as a theory and teaching model
  • Engage with other teachers across the district
  • Learn how to teach literacy across content areas (including STEM)
  • Design lesson plans using Dr. Muhammad's HILL Model for teaching identity development, skills, intellectualism & criticality
  • Learn equity-centered teaching and learning for creating anti-oppressive curriculum and instruction
