About this event
Cultural humility is having the skill to come into new encounters from the perspective of a learner - looking at someone else and asking to be educated on their culture without making assumptions.
Additionally, cultural humility is about avoiding stereotypical thinking by making a conscious decision to challenge your own cultural biases and choosing not to believe the stereotypes about others. It’s important to remember that each person is unique. The more you educate yourself and learn new things about the people around you, the better our communication will be.
Cultural humility will increase your ability to see from different perspectives, understand others’ backgrounds, and ultimately enable you to work more effectively in diverse settings. Understanding each other can go a long way and in turn create a tight-knit community within our school.
