Cultural Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution
Join us for a fascinating discussion by Helena Kane Finn, a former U.S. career diplomat of the Department of State, who will speak on Cultural Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution. Dr. Finn’s remarks will deal with the ways in which the soft power of cultural diplomacy can be used in conflict resolution with the goal of promoting human rights. During her three decades as a U.S. diplomat, she has served in Berlin, Tel Aviv, Vienna, Frankfurt, Islamabad, Lahore, and twice in Ankara.

Biography: Before joining the diplomatic service, she was an Assistant professor of Literature at Bosphorus University (formerly Robert College) in Istanbul. She pursued post- doctoral studies at Princeton University in Comparative Literature and holds a doctoral degree in British and American Literature from St. John’s University. She is the Main New York Representative at the U.N. for the International Federation of Business and Professional Women. She is a member of the board of directors of the RIAS German-American journalism exchange program and the DAAD Alumni Association of the US.
