By Derby Health Inequalities Partnership: dhip.org.uk

Overview

This workshop is for anyone working in Derby or Derbyshire who is ready to explore what culture means and how to be more inclusive.

Cultural Competency Workshop

Join us for an in-person experience designed to boost your understanding and skills in cultural competency. This interactive workshop is perfect for anyone looking to improve communication across diverse groups and foster inclusivity. Come and connect, learn, and grow in a relaxed atmosphere!

Workshop Aim

To help participants to develop cultural awareness by:

· exploring what culture is

· identifying your own culture and how it may differ from others

· understanding unconscious bias

· reflecting on your own behaviours and actions and how you can become more inclusive

Supporting Information

The workshop provides valuable space to think about what culture means to you and your work colleagues – participants are asked to come with an open and curious mind and be prepared to listen to different perspectives.

This workshop is not fact-heavy, it won’t answer all of your questions about different cultural groups, but it will help you to work out how to be more inclusive so that people you interact with feel respected and valued. You will be encouraged to think about cultural competency in relation to your role, work area or organisation.

This workshop is being evaluated as part of a Derby Health Inequalities Partnership test and learn pilot. We welcome any feedback, and we may follow up on actions from the day with individuals or organisations so that we can better understand the workshop’s impact.
