This curriculum has been specifically designed for service providers, educators, small businesses and front line staff and covers: Healthcare, Education, and Human Services.
The curriculum is based on national standards for cultural and linguistic competence from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health, and also on federal laws, national best practices and cultural competence training standards. The training is offered in 2 Modules.
Module 1: Language and Communication (Duration: 3.5 Hours)

Lunch Break (Duration: 1.0 Hour) Light refreshments will be provided. Lunch is not provided.
Module 2: Connecting Across Cultures (Duration: 3.5 Hours)

The Impact: A Rationale for Cultural Competence
Strategies for Communicating Across Cultures
Developing a Cultural Competence Plan
Certificate of participation will be provided for 7.0 hours of educational instruction through The West Linguistic Training Group (WLTG). Participants must complete both modules to receive a certificate.
The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) as an acceptable provider for continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 7.0 Nursing CE hours toward the continuing education competency requirements for Georgia nursing license renewal. Attendance required for all sessions for nursing CE hours. No partial credit offered. SOWEGA-AHEC Activity #2017-01.
