Event description
A Mind-Body Workshop for Inner Change

About this Event

As human beings we are all subject to experiencing five inner obstacles, or “habits of our mind” that can get in the way of the well-being that is possible in our lives. These habits of mind can contribute to anxiety, chronic stress, depressed mood and general unease and dissatisfaction.

While these habits of mind developed over millions of years ago as our brains evolved to help us survive as a species in harsh and dangerous conditions, unknowingly, we can often operate from these old, reactive “programs” in our modern day lives, even though in many ways they no longer serve us. When we learn to work with these habits of mind using five essential evidence-based tools, these “obstacles” transform into opportunities to grow lasting inner resources for presence, peace, compassion, gratitude, resilience and joy.

Through discussion, meditation, experiential exercises, writing and reflection, you will learn to work with some of these inner obstacles using simple mind-body practices that you can carry into your day, to deepen your awareness, cultivate well-being, and take steps toward developing lasting inner resources for resilience in your life.

Workshop Leader: Beth Kurland, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist, author and public speaker in practice for over 25 years. Beth has found mindfulness practice and other mind-body practices transformative in her own life and in the lives of her patients, and she is passionate about sharing these practices with others. She is the author of three award winning books: Dancing on the Tightrope: Transcending the Habits of Your Mind and Awakening to Your Fullest Life; The Transformative Power of Ten Minutes: An Eight Week Guide to Reducing Stress and Cultivating Well-Being; and Gifts of the Rain Puddle: Poems, Meditations and Reflections for the Mindful Soul. Beth has an outpatient practice in Norwood, MA.
