Event description

Description

The Fargo VA Chaplain Service and Suicide Prevention Coordinator invite you to a presentation, "Cultivating Hope in Caring Communities to Prevent Gun Violence and Suicides: All Hands on Deck!”

Piere Teihard de Chardin said,We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” In our world today, that experience can be intensified by exposure to other and self-directed violence, much of which we feel powerless to change. But, we don’t have to stand idly by, and so we are asking for your help.

The Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes that violence prevention, especially the prevention of suicides, is an effort that requires everyone’s help to be successful. This is why we are bringing a presentation to you. We would like you to be able to recognize the warning signs of mental health problems, especially those of a suicide crisis, and be able to help a Veteran (or anyone) who is in crisis by providing support and referral. Secondly, we would ask that you spread the word about the importance of gun safety and distribute the free gunlocks we have made available to your congregation.
