Cultivate Baltimore Classroom Series
Tue, March 21, 2017, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Come join Future Harvest - CASA, UMD Extension, Real Food Farm, and the Farm Alliance of Baltimore for the 3rd Annual Cultivate Baltimore workshop series!
Every winter, our organizations come together to sharpen our skills and broaden our knowledge about urban agriculture. Cultivate Baltimore is a weekly workshop series intended for experienced growers looking to take their urban farming businesses to the next level. The following topics covered will be included:
- 2/28: Soil Science 101
- 3/7: Interpreting a Soil Test
- 3/14: Enterprise Budgets for Farmers
- 3/21: Business Planning
- 3/28: Crop Planning and Rotations
- 4/4: Weeds and Hand-scale Tools
- 4/11: Pests and Pest Management
- 4/18: Equipment and High Tunnel Maintenance.
Future Harvest Beginning Farmer Training Program trainees, Farm Alliance members, and Real Food Farm staff attend free, but these classes are open to the public for a small price. However, in order to keep the classroom experience moving along, we ask that you commit to attending all the classes in the series.
Attendees can also participate in future on-farm work days (ex: composting, bed winterization, raised bed construction) for free and Future Harvest Field Days (high tunnel raising and mock GAP audit) at a reduced price.
Classes will be held in the Real Food Farm offices inside Lake Clifton High School weekly on Tuesday mornings. Audio recordings of classes will also be available.
We look forward to seeing you there!
