Clif Family Winery celebrates wine, food, and adventure in all that they do! Executive Chef, John McConnell, is a pro, who has been slinging bruschettas (and many other tasty treats) from the Clif Family Bruschetteria Food Truck in St. Helena since it opened in 2014. Fueled by seasonal ingredients from the certified organic Clif Family Farm and trusted local purveyors, the Clif Family Bruschetteria serves a unique and ever-changing menu of bruschette, porchetta, rotisserie chicken, farm fresh salads and seasonal sides.

Join us as we welcome Chef John McConnell, for a fun and dynamic demonstration that encompasses Clif Family Winery’s joie de vivre. Chef John will share his behind-the-scenes tricks for creating delicious dishes as he shows you how to make a few of his favorite (non-bruschetta) recipes paired with Clif Family Wines.

About Chef John McConnell
John McConnell’s cooking career spans several noteworthy restaurants and food-centric cities. Most recently, he served as the Executive Chef for Hillstone Restaurant Group. Prior to working for Hillstone, John was Chef de Cuisine for Michelin-star rated Campton Place Hotel in San Francisco, and he was previously Chef de Cuisine at Terra Restaurant in St. Helena.

John credits his grandmother with instilling in him an appreciation for food and cooking. When she would visit him growing up in Oklahoma, her passion for family and for cooking wholesome, from-scratch meals was infectious. Years later, while attending Iowa State University for Chemical Engineering, John felt a calling to the culinary arts. He enrolled at the New England Culinary Institute in 2004. After graduating with honors, John accepted an internship at Terra and moved to wine country.

John brings his passion for local food sourcing and seasonal ingredients to Clif Family Winery & Farm. He lives in the Napa Valley with his wife, Claire (also a chef), and their three young daughters.


About Clif Family

Our story begins with Gary and Kit’s cycling adventures through Italy where long days of cycling would end in leisurely evenings of good wine, food and hospitality. As great lovers of food, wine and adventure, Gary and Kit sought to bring these memorable experiences to their Napa Valley home with our Clif Family tasting room and Bruschetteria food truck. Our organic farm and vineyards located high atop Howell Mountain provide a bounty of grapes, olives, fruit and vegetables to fuel our journey.
