Event description

Description

It is 10 years since Jihan El Tahari's seminal film Cuba: An African Odyssey, was made. A painstaking researched and crafted documentary packed with archive footage of this crucial period of struggle for independence from colonial powers, in the history of the African continent and its diaspora. The context is the cold war era of international politics. African revolutionaries call on Cuban guerrillas to help them in their struggle, and Fidel Castro's men will play a central role on the continent.

June Givanni Pan African Archive and MayDay Rooms will be screening this film in the presence of the director who will introduce the film and discuss it with us all afterwards.
