Event description

Description

This school year CTS is hosting a series of three conversations about the intersection of faith and society.

September 20, 2017
CTS Talks: Gender and Theology
Many names, roles, pronouns, and attributes are ascribed to God in religious and scholarly discourse. This CTS Talk hopes to explore how gendering God can inform how we experience genders in the church, community and home.

October 14, 2017
CTS Talks: Racism, Trauma and Healing
The sickness of racism is rooted in a compromised psyche that informs group dynamics in families, neighborhoods, and institutions. What degree of injury and repetition establishes trauma? How does healthy spirituality build a foundation for healing once trauma has occurred? These are the questions we hope to answer in our time together. A well of insight awaits!

February 7, 2018
CTS Talks: Preaching the Scriptures for Current Events
God did not become mute at the end of Revelation 22. Scriptures are most richly understood in context. Understanding their intention helps us to discern more keenly God's voice in response to what's happening today. This talk is an informal exploration of "voice" in sacred text for the purpose of prophetic, expository preaching.
