Event Details

CSWEP is pleased to sponsor the 3rd Annual Peer Mentoring Breakfast for Mid-Career Economists at the 2017 AEA/ASSA Meetings in Chicago from 8:00-10:00AM on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Mid-career and senior women who would like to participate are encouraged to register. We are also looking for senior women willing to serve as mentors/table leaders. Registration as a participant or mentor can be completed via the Registration button.

This mentoring experience is intended for female economists who are tenured academics at either associate or full rank or non-academics who are 8+ years post-PhD. Mentors/table leaders should be senior women who are at the rank of full professor.

The event is not open to graduate students or junior faculty, who will find CSWEP’s Mentoring Breakfast for Junior Economists on Friday, January 6, and Sunday, January 8, a better match.

The event will open with two brief talks on mid-career issues by senior mentors (on topics suggested by participants).  Each table will then have a Q&A session, facilitated by two senior mentors/table leaders.

The schedule will be as follows:

  • 8:00AM-8:10AM: Welcome/Breakfast
  • 8:10AM-8:30AM: Senior Mentor Talks
  • 8:30AM-8:50AM: Table Introductions: each person at the table will take 2 minutes to introduce themselves to the table.
  • 8:50AM-10:00AM: Q&A: each participant will have 10-12 minutes to ask question(s) about the mid-career issues they are facing and receive feedback from their table participants and senior mentor/table leaders.
