Description

The VC Panel at CSUN will feature speakers from Crosscut Ventures, Backstage Capital, and BAM Ventures discussing how to effectively craft a pitch deck to attract investment. The panel will be moderated by Rick Friedman from DLA Piper, a founding sponsor of CSUN's flagship new venture competition, the Bull Ring. This event will be the last in a series of startup workshops intended to inspire interest in entrepreneurship and better prepare students for the competition.

Event is free to attend, open to the community, and light refreshments will be provided.

With 20+ years of private equity experience, Rick founded the $750 million venture capital arm of SunAmerica in 1997, realizing 11 successful exits. As a partner in Palomar Ventures, he oversaw $500 million across three venture funds. Now at CrossCut Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund based in LA, his investment areas include consumer internet, enterprise software, and gaming.

Richard is the Co-founder and Managing Director of BAM Ventures, an LA-based venture capital firm that he started with Brian Lee, a serial angel investor and the co-founder of Legalzoom, Shoedazzle and The Honest Company. Prior to BAM, Richard served on Shoedazzle’s senior management team and helped orchestrate the merger of the company with its largest competitor at the end of 2013.
