Chicago Southland Green TIME Zone                                                                                                                          CSEDC has recently hosted two high profile economic development tours with Warren Ribley, the Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity from the State of Illinois, and Joe Szabo, the Administrator of the United States Federal Railway Administration to promote Transportation, Intermodal, Manufacturing, and Environmental Development in the Southland.  These tours successfully promoted the opportunities in Logistics Park Calumet I-80 East, Southland TOD, and the Calumet Wind, Rail, and Auto Manufacturing Region which make up the Green TIME Zone.  Download a four color document at  http://info.cnt.org/~david/Green_Zone

Logistics Park Calumet-I-80 East
With the expansion of the CN intermodal, the UP intermodal access to Mexico,
and the CN, UP, CSX and IHB nearby concentration yards providing excellent
boxcar service to sites; there are exceptional opportunities for development in the Southland.  Logistics Park Calumet-I-80 East has to overcome the hurdles of a brownfield us greenfield sites.  Jim Giblin will provide an assessment of these opportunities and challenges using a 100 acre IHB served site in Dolton as an example.

Calumet Wind, Auto, Rail Manufacturing Program                                                                                                  The Chicago Southland has a rich collection of sophisticated  businesses working in rail, wind, and auto such Mi-Jack Products, National Railway Equipment Corporation, Continental Midland, and Funk Linko to name a few.  The Wind, Rail, Auto program will support the expansion of such firms and create a regional program to attract related companies.                                                                                                             Jim Wurtz, National Railway Equipment Company  www.nationalrailway.com

Transit Oriented Development                                                                                                                                       The Chicago Southland Transit-Oriented Development Corridor Development Project is evaluating and assigning corridor station areas a TOD topology based on their respective conformance to identified TOD typologies while taking into consideration individual community desires for future development around the stations.  By creating groupings of stations along corridors combining types of TODs, the TOD project will better engage developers by providing a larger scale of projects that match particular developer’s expertise to types of TOD Stations.  This presentation will provide an overview of how this project can create ongoing relationships with developers to spur additional TOD in the Southland.                                        Ron Lanz, LandVision  http://www.landvision.com/
