Event description

Description

Are you a farmer who relies on the CSA model for your business? Are you looking for some local research on your local customer base and seeking suggestions for future seasons? This workshop is for you!

Are you a consumer who already does or wants to support local farmers through purchasing local foods? Do you want to learn more about your options and how best to support your farmers? This workshop is for you!

Throughout 2016 and 2017, The Chester County Economic Development Council's (CCEDC) AgConnect partnership commissioned a local foods study with Temple University Fox School of Business. We had the following questions:

Are CSAs still a viable business model for start up specialty crop farmers?

Are there still opportunities for local food?

What are consumers looking for when it comes to buying local?

We have the results, and we want to share them with you!

Jodi Gauker, Agriculture Project Consultant at CCEDC, will share the results with you, followed by a panel discussion with local farmers who will tell you about their experiences marketing specialty crops through CSAs and other methods.

Join us!

Funding for this project was provided, in part, by the USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program through a grant from the PA Department of Agriculture.
