Event description

Description

The Bible seems to be clear that we are not to seek revenge, but there is a challenge to that idea in the Psalms. There we find what are often called the "imprecatory psalms." Filled with cries that the psalmist's enemies be left without kindness, that their children be orphaned, and that calamity will overtake them, we have to make sense of these passionate and provocative prayers.

Over two Tuesday evenings, April 23 & 30, we will read some of these Psalms, seek to tap into the feelings being expressed before God, and wrestle with how such prayers could rise from the lips of those who look to God--and whether it is right for us to learn to pray in such ways.

Each evening we will begin at 6:30. Although the class is free, we do ask you to register so that we can plan accordingly.
