Description

Crushing Colorism in Your City

Short Fim Screening
Black & Brown Communities
Lecture Tour

Exposing, educating, dismantling the social construct of intraracism. Looking back on the established self-hate that Black & Brown communities continue to perpetuate in our youth. Colorism affects marriage selection, employment, entertainment, education, and social groups. Colorism is especially embedded in the Black, Hispanic, East Indian, and Asian communities.

For hundreds of years negative terminology has been the solidarity of the practice, for example, words like: Hi-Yellow, Darkie, Fair, Wheat Color, "Too Dark", "You think you cute because you're light skin", "Better the Race", "Mejorar la Raza", "Only pretty when the lights are off", "The baby's gonna be dark.".

What can words do? It can have a significant impact on one's self-esteem and the words can be a form of bullying. This is will be a powerful and life-changing event for the entire family.

An interactive event open to the entire community....all races are welcome to learn and be apart of the movement.
