Sat, March 25, 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Dream of launching a new product, project or startup? Wish granted! Thanks to crowdfunding, today’s hottest form of high-tech investment, suddenly anyone can bring virtually any idea or invention to life with a little help from the Internet. Come and learn how to raise capital for your startup or existing business with crowdfunding and more investment ideas.
In 2015, it was estimated that worldwide over $34 billion was raised through crowdfunding. Crowdfunding (or crowdsourcing) is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people. Crowdfunding makes use of the easy accessibility of vast networks of people through social media and crowdfunding websites to bring investors and entrepreneurs together. Crowdfunding has the potential to increase entrepreneurship by expanding the pool of investors from whom funds can be raised beyond the traditional circle of owners, relatives and venture capitalists.
The goal of the crowdfunding workshop is to discuss the crowdfunding equity market including federal and state regulations behind the market’s functionality. This journey is to build a foundation of knowledge and clarify how you can specifically run a successful crowd funding campaign.
The workshop will educate participants about the federal and state regulations behind the market’s functionality. In addition to crowdfunding, the panel will discuss other forms of investment such as accredited investors, and the importance of a business plan and its role in obtaining investment.
The workshop panelists include:
Heather Hines, U.S. Small Business Administration
Senen Garcia, SG Law Group
Raju Mohandas, BridgePoint Financial Group
Orlando Espinosa, MICROscholarships Inc. and Emineo Media
Moderated by Dr. Sandra L. Torres, Miami Dade College
