Description
McKeesport, Pa – Penn State Greater Allegheny will be hosting Brandon Short as the second keynote speaker of the Crossing Bridges Summit on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7 pm at Wunderley Gymnasium on Greater Allegheny’s campus. Short is a graduate of McKeesport Area High School and Penn State, and he is a former New York Giants linebacker.
Short received his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2010 and later that year began his finance career with Goldman Sachs. In 2013, he co-founded World Business Partners UAE, a Middle East lender specializing in loans for small- and medium-sized companies which comply with Islam's ban on interest, along with the religion's bans on investments in alcohol, firearms, and other products. He now lives and works in London. Short is currently running for a seat on the Penn State University Board of Trustees.
For the summit, Short will engage in a conversation with Wanda Hope, Diversity & Inclusion Officer for Johnson & Johnson. Short will share his personal journey and his experiences living as a black man in the United States and abroad.
The purpose of the Crossing Bridge Summit is to consider ways Penn State Greater Allegheny can serve as a catalyst for social change and bridge racial divides in the community. Short will provide ideas related to this.
VIP Tickets for the talk are $15. General Admission and Student Tickets (with valid I.D.) are FREE. RSVP is required and can be found here – greaterallegheny.psu.edu/BrandonShort
After Short’s talk, attendees are invited to join Short for further conversations and reflections in the classroom in Wunderley Gymnasium. Refreshments will be provided.
