Description

This workshop has been designed for anyone looking to improve their knowledge of the CrossFit fundamentals. Perfect for anyone within their first year of CrossFit or for experienced athletes looking to strenghten their foundations of movement and bring consitency and intensity to their wheelhouse.

PART 1: TRAINING

As a full time CrossFit coach, Personal Trainer and Co-owner of Colchester CrossFit Kids. Sam Cowler has gained over 3 years of experience working with people of all abilities and ages. Coming from a background of playing professional football in multiple countries and leagues he has developed an appetite for learning and passing on his knowledge to others.

His talk will include:

- Foundations of CrossFit, from the pryamid of functional fitness, to the wellness to sickness scale.

- Why intensity over volume is hugely important for GPP (general physical preparedness) and why constantly varied functional movement mixed with nutrtion is key to preventing chronic disease.

- SMART goals: Why setting realistic short term and long term goals are important and how mindest can affect our approach to training.

As well as theory based, we will also go through some foundation movements. Breaking them down step by step and going through the importance of Mechanics>Consitency>Intensity so bring suitable clothing to get sweaty!


PART 2: NUTRITION


Shannon Beer is a law-graduate turned nutritionist (certified by Mac-Nutrition Uni) whose dedication to providing the best real life, practical advice has lead her to attending conferences around the world from those at the top of her industry. We are lucky enough to have Shannon travel all the way from Sydney to come and share her knowledge of all things food related. Within her talk on nutrition she will be including topics of:

- How much should you be eating?

- When and what should you eat?

- Eating for specific goals (weight loss, muscle gain and maximising performance)

- Supplements. Do we need them and what (if any) should we take?

As well as talking you through certain topics, we will finish with a Q+A to give you a chance to ask us anything food or fitness related.
