Event description
For government to be more responsive to the current and future needs of Hawaii's children and families, government must work better together

About this Event

The Governor supports state agencies in the effort to develop a stream-lined, policy aligned, decision-making process that fosters cross sector collaboration to support and improve the health, well-being, and safety of Hawaii's children, youth, and families.

Currently, there is no executive branch office to facilitate the coordination of policies and programs across children, youth, and family serving agencies so that individuals and families are served in a holistic manner that makes sense. Each department contributes to the wellbeing of children, youth or families, and has a role and responsibility to the health, safety, and prosperity of Hawaii's residents. Often, federal and state laws, funding streams, and program policies are disconnected and not aligned. This results in a siloed and fragmented service delivery system, where the lack of comprehensive policies and lack of a continuum of services creates systemic or artificial barriers, or confusion and frustration when accessing government services.

The intent of this Cross Sector Collaboration is to:

• align and streamline policies and funding to support effective and strategic decision making;

• identify existing cross-sector collaborations that work, inventory existing available services, and identify gaps; and

• formalize information and data sharing practices to inform decision
