On Saturday, September 24th, Crop Mob Savannah will be visiting the Three Sisters Farm. Beth, Mary and Priscilla are the sisters and the land they are farming has been in their family since 1847. With considerably less help than the sixteen siblings who worked the land after the Civil War, the Three Sisters brought this historic farm well into the 21st century with USDA organic certification. They specialize in heirloom and unique varieties of vegetables and flowers. On this mob we will be helping them with one of the more ephemeral of veggies, the asparagus. It has been recently mowed and needs mulching – lots of it. Why would asparagus be mowed and why is the mulching such a big job? The answers to these questions and more await you at this mob. This is another amazing piece of land in one of the most scenic settings you will ever experience. Shoofly Kitchen will be generously donating lunch, made of course from goodies off the Three Sisters Farm. Come celebrate the new harvest season and enjoy the advent of cooler days to work on the farm.
