Building a Culture for Thinking
Creating a dynamic critical thinking environment requires a conscious effort by teachers. Does your classroom show that you value thinking, promote thinking, and make thinking visible? Building a Culture for Thinking guides you through elements of a successful thinking culture that leads to deeper learning and better student engagement. Participants will explore how a thinking culture can make an impact in learning and discover what they can do to deliberately create emotionally supportive classrooms that enhance thinking.

Sparking Student Thinking
Are there any questions?” Silence fills the room. The teacher waits the customary three seconds and then moves on to the next topic. Often in traditional classrooms, students pose few questions. Sparking Student Thinking helps equip students with strategies to formulate thoughtful questions that increase levels of critical thinking and engagement. This experiential session allows participants to engage in four questioning protocols that can boost student questioning. Participants will leave with an understanding of the importance of student questioning while acquiring strategies that can be immediately applied in the classroom.
