CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING - 24 HOUR CLASS
** GEARED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT & EMERGENCY RELATED FIRST RESPONDERS **
This class is geared for emergency first responders and is an in-depth course designed to assist dispatchers and first responders with identifying and assisting individuals with mental illnesses. CIT is designed to promote community solutions to assist individuals with mental illnesses. The course is a law-enforcement based crisis intervention partnership with community and health care groups. The training will increase the safety of officers, consumers, their family members and other citizens within the community. CIT reduces the stigma and the need for further contact with the criminal justice system. The training will provide students with an understanding of the basic symptomology of mental illnesses, considerations and tactics for communicating with mentally ill subjects and will provide an awareness of the community resources available. Students will understand the importance of self-care and identifying signs and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Students will review healthy coping habits for first responder stress and self-care. P.O.S.T. Certified #5990-20801 and P.O.S.T. reimbursable under Plan IV.
There is no paper ticket required to gain entry into this class, just a reservation and a form of identification. To reschedule or cancel your reservation for this class, please do so no later than two weeks prior to the start of the training.
Training Dates: February 22-24, 2017, May 17-19, 2017, August 16-18, 2017 November 8-10, 2016.
Classes will be held at the Rancho Cordova Police Department (2897 Kilgore Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670) in the Larry Canfield Community Room.
