South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority (SCLHSA) and its Behavioral Health Advisory Committee, along with its partner agencies, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office will host its 5th annual Crisis Intervention Team Training for Law Enforcement Officers, June 18-22, 2018 at the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office 118 Armour Drive in Houma, Louisiana.

This free 40 hour training is the recognized Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), nationally known as the Memphis Model, a best practice model that provides law enforcement based crisis intervention training for safe intervention with persons experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This training for law enforcement officers will cover key topic areas including foundations of mental illness and substance disorders, understanding persons with developmental disabilities, psychotropic medications, community resources and practicums. Specialists in the behavioral health field and law enforcement will teach classes and persons and families with behavioral health concerns will present to the officers.

Registration is required and is limited to 28 participants. Lunch will be provided for the training which begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. Certificates of completion will be awarded to candidates completing the entire program.
