This VIRTUAL course offers an introductory dive into Crisis Management and Crisis Communications for the Private Sector.

Participants will be introduced to early recognition of weak signals and general management principles incorporating both internal and external organizational crises. The course focuses on the crisis life cycle, all-hazard risk assessments and management strategies and finally on effective crisis communications and public relations in our new, highly dynamic information landscape. This course uses both theoretical frameworks and case studies to bring forth current best practices and lessons learned from global organizations, highlighting their successes and failures over the last decade.

Subject Matter Expert: Sevan Gerard is a multidisciplinary researcher, practitioner, and strategist in disaster management, public safety, systems theory, and intelligence. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School in Security Studies, focusing his research on technology and social identity in conflict and terrorism. He has worked as a consultant and subject matter expert for the private sector as well as for federal law enforcement and intelligence organizations on homeland security, CBRNE, and technology challenges. He has also operated as a tactical medic and private sector security and intelligence officer abroad.
