Event description
Join us at The Royal Scots Club on Thursday 23rd or Friday 24th September for a very exciting afternoon.

About this event

We are honoured to be joined by three of Scotland’s best crime writers, Ian Rankin, Lin Anderson and Lesley Kelly.

Guests will receive a three-course lunch with champagne on arrival and wine with the meal. The authors will take part in a panel discussion after lunch including a Q&A which will be hosted by Jackie McGlone. During the event there will also be an opportunity to purchase books for signing by our three authors.

About the authors:

• Ian Rankin

Ian writes the famous Rebus novels and lives in Edinburgh. His latest book, due to be released in early September is a finishing of Williams McIlvanneys last and incomplete novel. McIlvanney’s pioneering Laidlaw series of crime novels proved an immense inspiration to Ian Rankin and now the creator of Rebus completes his idol’s last, unfinished novel - and Laidlaw's origin story - in reverent yet typically compelling prose.

• Lin Anderson

Lin Anderson is a Scottish novelist and screenwriter best known for her bestselling series featuring forensic scientist Dr Rhona MacLeod. Lin will be discussing her latest novel which was released early August; ‘The Killing Tide’. It sees forensic scientist Rhona MacLeod investigating a mysterious abandoned ship which has swept ashore in the Orkney Isles.

• Lesley Kelly

Lesley Kelly has won a number of writing competitions, including The Scotsman's Short Story award in 2008, the theme of which was 20 years of Ian Rankin’s Rebus! She has spent the past four years writing the Health of Strangers series, set in an Edinburgh beset by a killer virus…

The event will be chaired by Jackie McGlone the first woman deputy editor of a Scottish newspaper and has held executive posts on The Observer, The Sunday Standard, The Evening Times, Glasgow, The Scotsman and The Herald. Jackie chairs a number of events every year at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and has also mediated at author events at the British Library, in London, and at various venues in New York.

Tickets are available for £60 per person. Tickets are available to members and non-members.
