Description

Discover the thrills of writing crime fiction.

Crime fiction appeals for its compelling plots, vicarious thrills and flawed characters; also because, unlike in real life, justice is generally served. Combining theory with practical writing exercises, learn the elements of a thrilling crime read. Touch on the history of crime fiction, explore the rules of the genre (and how to break them), and consider the essential ingredients in crime fiction: premise, character, plot and pace. Designed for early and emerging writers, or established writers turning to crime as a new genre.

You will learn how to:

  • Find ideas for crime stories;

  • Develop convincing characters;

  • Plot and structure your story; and

  • Set a cracking pace.
