Registration for the April 2019 Conference and Hotel is live! Register now!

  1. Register for the April 2019 Conference here.
  2. Book your room as soon as possible. We sold out last time and had to utilize overflow hotels. You can book your hotel through our webpage here.
  3. The highlights for the April 2019 conference include such notables as Frank Serafini and Carol Jago. You won’t want to miss this conference.
  4. Interested in hosting a round table? Applications will be live on the website after Feburary 8th at www.cresteducator.com

  6. Due to a need to switch banks, the ACH deposit information has changed. Please check the webpage under the registration link for the new account numbers required. Also, please follow up with your purchasing department to ensure that they have the correct information. Finally, if you are using ACH deposit, please make sure to follow up with Ann-Marie Trammell (ann-marie.trammell@birdvilleschools.net, 817-547-5802) to share the deposit confirmation number.
  7. If your district still requires the use of paper checks, please contact Ann-Marie Trammell to work this out. We will work with you, but we need to be aware that a check is coming.

  10. We are again revising our bylaws to further meet the requirements of NCTE/ILA and changes to our processes. Those will be posted two weeks prior to the conference. Please review and be prepared to vote at the fall conference.
  11. Are you a vendor? Please read the letter at this link: Vendor letter. Also, please note that during our networking time, we will be having a special session with vendors and CREST to discuss mutually beneficial opportunities and items of interest. Be on the lookout for that!

Frank Serafini


Frank Serafini is the author of the Heinemann title Classroom Reading Assessment. He is a leading voice on the reading workshop, whether the topic is implementation, planning, assessment, or comprehension. His passion for the workshop has helped tens of thousands of teachers find more effective and professionally satisfying teaching through Heinemann professional books such as Around the Reading Workshop in 180 Days, Lessons in Comprehension, and The Reading Workshop and his newest book released in late 2015, Reading Workshop 2.0. Frank is a Professor of Literacy Education at Arizona State University and he brings his ideas, experiences, and deep understanding of reading instruction to teachers around the country as a member of Heinemann Professional Development Services.

Carol Jago


Carol Jago has taught English in middle and high school for 32 years and is associate director of the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA. She served as president of the National Council of Teachers of English and chair of the College Board’s English Academic Advisory committee.
Carol has published many books with Heinemann including With Rigor for All: Meeting Standards for Reading Literature; Papers, Papers, Papers; Classics in the Classroom; and Cohesive Writing: Why Concept Is Not Enough. She has also published books on contemporary multicultural authors for NCTE. Carol wrote an education column for the Los Angeles Times, and her essays continue to appear in educational journals and online forums.
Carol edits California English the journal of the California Association of Teachers of English and worked on the planning committee for the 2009 National Assessment for Educational Progress (NAEP) Reading Framework and the 2011 NAEP Writing Framework. She is a consulting author on the HMH Collections program.
In 2015 Carol was awarded the International Literacy Association’s Adolescent Literacy Thought Leader Award and in 2016 the CEL Exemplary Leadership Award. She has been named by the U.S. Department of Education to serve on the National Assessment Governing Board overseeing the NAEP assessments.
